Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada "We are here today looking for assurances from the Provincial government that Ontario's' forestlands are not a bargaining chip in the softwood lumber dispute", Makowski stated. "Although softwood talks are adjourned for the time being, we have recently seen British Columbia capitulate on terms of control over public forests, and we will certainly do everything we can to avoid that happening in this province. This is the most significant attack on Canadian sovereignty since the War of 1812."
