Mend cross-border ties In addition to the quarrel over international affairs, the U.S. and Canada are continuing to squabble about trade disputes such as the unfair American 27-per-cent duty on Canadian softwood lumber, which has thrown thousands of Canadians out of work. There were demonstrations related to that just this week across Northern Ontario, including Sault Ste. Marie.
