May the sharpest carpenter win Western Washington Lathing, Acoustical and Drywall Systems Apprenticeship Program. If a teenager wants to belong to the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, the largest building trades union in North America, he or she should take high school classes such as mathematics, drafting or mechanical drawing. Shop work is a good skill, and you need to learn to weld.
