    When Will the AFL-CIO Fight for Jobs For Unemployed? In its formal statements and press releases, the AFL-CIO asserts that the "nation's job crisis is bleak and getting bleaker." It notes that the economy has lost more than 2.6 million private sector jobs - nearly 100,000 per month - since President George W. Bush took office, and that nearly two million Americans have been out of work for 27 months or more.
