Back to work for carpenter union
Carpenters traded their picket signs for toolboxes yesterday, returning to construction sites around Washington with a new contract offer that appears likely to settle their dispute with contractors.
While union leaders have called off the strike, the dispute is not officially over. Union members will vote on the four-year contract offer -- announced late Thursday night -- later this week, with the result expected Saturday afternoon. But carpenters are expected to ratify the agreement after union negotiators unanimously endorsed the offer.------------------------------------------- posted 7:34 AM :: reference link ::
