Business found guilty of exporting asbestos without the required permits Canada NewsWire
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) reported today that Lab Chrysotile Inc. pleaded guilty in the Court of Thetford Mines of offences under the Export and Import Permits Act. Lab Chrysotile was fined $25,000.
A CBSA investigation showed that, during the period from January 28, 2002, to January 6, 2003, Lab Chrysotile Inc. illegally exported chrysotile asbestos from Canada to Angola and Myanmar without producing the required permits. These two countries were on the Area Control List (a list of countries to which exports can only be made with an export permit) at the time of the offences. Angola was removed from the list in June 2003.------------------------------------------- posted 7:13 AM :: reference link ::
