CEP Demands Saw Log Guidelines Canada NewsWire
Ontario's largest forestry union is demanding that the Ontario government implement guidelines covering the use of logs harvested from provincial forests. Currently companies can determine on their own which trees are 'saw logs' and which can be taken directly from the forest for chipping and shipping to pulp mills.
'This practice is costing Ontario forestry workers jobs,' said Ontario Regional Vice President Cec Makowski of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada in a protest letter sent to Ontario Minister of Natural Resources, David Ramsey.------------------------------------------- posted 6:40 AM :: reference link ::
