Global Solidarity: SEIU to Join Forces with Unions in Other Countries SEIU.ORG
Multinational, multi-service companies like Sodexho–a food and facilities management services company based in France and operational in 74 countries–specialize in contracting out U.S. public services, health care services, and building services.
For example, thousands of U.S. public school cafeteria workers who were once employed by their local school system are now employed by Sodexho. Although Sodexho gets paid by the school system, the multinational company isn't otherwise invested in the local community.
But it is heavily invested in the idea that it doesn't need to meet the same labor standards as it routinely meets in its own country –such as honoring U.S workers' right to a voice at work, and paying them living wages with basic benefits.------------------------------------------- posted 6:26 AM :: reference link ::
