Wiring glitch cited in crane failure By DAVID PATCH, Toledo Blade
As a crane operator tried to lower one of the telescopic legs Oct. 23 - the crane's first day back in operation since the fatal accident - Ms. Casey said the miswired controller instead caused the winch to try to raise the leg farther than it could go. The cable attached to the leg overloaded and snapped.
Fortunately, no one was injured when the leg plunged onto a temporary catwalk around a pier upon which the crane was to have been positioned during the maneuver.------------------------------------------- posted 7:06 AM :: reference link ::
