Depending on production methods, Burchell believes anywhere from 75 to 500 miners could be employed at Donkin.
Whatever the numbers, he's certain the workers would want to be unionized.
'I think our history shows what happens when you're not represented by a union,'' he said, referring to the 1992 explosion at the non-union Westray mine.
