Join in the fight for women's pay equity By Diane Regan, AAUW On Tuesday, April 19, members of the Bowling Green branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will join with women and men across the U.S. in a national day of action, Equal Pay Day. This day is important because it marks -- in terms of wage equity -- the length of time it takes the average female worker to make the wages earned by the average man by December 31 of the previous year. On a national level, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, women are paid only $.76 for every $1.00 that a man is paid.
