IBEW LABOR DAY MESSAGE-2005 - EDWIN D. HILL, INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF ELECTRICAL WORKERS
No single cause of labor's decline is as critical as the animosity toward unions and the rights of union members from the current political leadership in Washington.
Over 20,000 workers were fired or discriminated against last year for engaging in legally protected union activity. The current administration, however, opposes a bipartisan bill to protect the right of workers to organize.
Some 57 million nonunion workers in the United States say they would form a union if given the chance. Their support for unions is often overwhelmed by brazen tactics of corporations that receive far too little scrutiny by government.------------------------------------------- posted 5:07 AM :: reference link ::
