Unions With More Than 1.5 Million Members Urge Congress to Protect Gulf Coast Working Families From Bush Move to Eliminate Wage Standards for Reconstruction Work - SOURCE Laborers' International Union of North America
The letter closes by asking, "With the Davis-Bacon Act suspended... How will you protect the workers?"
The unions have been leaders in rushing assistance to the Gulf, and in developing longer-term plans to help residents get training and jobs that will rebuild New Orleans and the Coast, as well as help families and communities to be stronger than before the disaster occurred.
A full copy of the letter is available at http://www.liuna.org or by calling 202-942-2268.------------------------------------------- posted 5:03 AM :: reference link ::
