Another hardhat hero is lost - By Michael Daly, New York Daily News
The construction worker pulled on an improbably pristine pair of white gloves and began to pick up the outsized tools his comrades had set down when Collado slipped between the piling and the barge, striking his head.
Two other workers, both in orange life vests, set to helping the man with the white gloves. Air driven riveters and drills along with giant bits went into a big steel box that was proportioned like a huge coffin.
One of the workers picked up a sledgehammer, peering down into the water where Collado had fallen, the latest of some two dozen construction workers to die every year in this city. Many more are maimed.------------------------------------------- posted 5:15 AM :: reference link ::
