Former carpenter's union secretary charged with embezzlement - BY LAURI HARVEY, Munster Times, IN
The former secretary of the Northwest Indiana District Council of Carpenters was indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday on charges of embezzling union funds.

Sally Collins, 51, of Hobart, was charged with stealing $300,697 in union assets from March 1995 to July 2001. Her husband, Robert Collins, 54, is charged with aiding and abetting her.

'These union members have worked hard for their money, and they are entitled to know that their money is safe,' U.S. Attorney Joseph Van Bokkelen said.
