The B.C. Federation of Labour passed an emergency resolution Wednesday calling for provincial government action over the soaring number of forest worker deaths and injuries.
'Workers are dying at a completely unacceptable rate,' federation president Jim Sinclair said in an interview after forest workers stood up at the convention and in the most moving event of the day, told their own tales of near death and injury.
Forty industry workers have died this year and more than 100 have been permanently disabled.
