Union trains workers for Alberta - CBC Prince Edward Island
The insatiable need for oilpatch workers in Western Canada is driving some training courses in Prince Edward Island.
P.E.I.'s Carpenters Union has been running courses in how to properly use scaffolding, and it plans to run another in the near future.
Most of the participants don't stick around to work on the Island, instead heading for jobs in Fort McMurray, Alta.
The union has hosted two courses recently. The 80 participants paid $1,600 to take the month-long program.------------------------------------------- posted 4:31 AM :: reference link ::
