A NEW OWNER AND ERA FOR THE DAILY NEWS - Philadelphia Daily News It's a diverse group of financial backers, from a scientist to the powerful Carpenters Union, which this page has criticized in the past, and includes Republicans and Democrats. And they've pledged to keep this tabloid, famed for its gritty urban journalism, going.
