Two additional unions settle with contractors - Philadelphia Inquirer
Two more unions reached agreements yesterday with the General Building Contractors Association: the Operative Plasterers and Cement Masons International Association Local 592 and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 542. The plasterers' and cement masons' new contract will provide a 6.5 percent compensation increase - up $3 the first year, $3.10 the second year and $3.15 the third. They now earn $46.26 an hour: $27.25 in base pay and $19.01 in health, pension, savings and other benefits. The operating engineers' four-year deal carries hourly compensation increases of $3.15 the first two years, $3.25 in the third and $3.35 in the fourth. - Jane M.
