Firm closes (Col)gate to union plans - By Albor Ruiz, New York Daily News
Colgate Scaffold and Equipment Corp., at 1470 Bruckner Blvd. in the Bronx, is one of the largest scaffold erecting corporations in the tristate area. It has been around for 45 years and employs more than 30 full-time scaffold carpenters.
'We ask you to recognize our union, the New York City District Council of Carpenters, and that you sit down with us to negotiate a fair and just contract,' the workers said in a letter to Colgate's CEO Peter O'Farrell, signed by 20 of them. 'All we want is safety in our job sites and respect in the workplace. Every worker deserves that from their employer.'
It is not too much to ask.------------------------------------------- posted 7:26 AM :: reference link ::
