Museum of the French work ethic - Expatica France
Prospective members must make a Tour de France lasting from two to 10 years, learning their trade as apprentices in several centres around France. Traditionally, compagnons travelled by foot, identifiable by their single earring and the ornamented canes they carried. Today they are allowed to take the train, but they are still inducted into the brotherhood via secret rites and oaths known only to compagnons.
But first they must produce a 'masterpiece', usually a model of some sort that demonstrates both their skill and their creativity.------------------------------------------- posted 9:26 AM :: reference link ::
