“Job security is a key issue, it’s a show stopper for us.
“Another major issue for our members is they work 11 and-a-half, 12-hour shifts and in the logging industry, that’s totally unworkable — our members can’t handle it.”
The union is demanding Monday to Friday shifts.
“If the company wants to talk to us about flexible shifts and as long as it makes sense to the crews, they’ll vote it in,” Routley said.
As the current contract now stands, the employers have the unilateral right too impose shifts.
