Vision-impaired workers benefit from fine handed to Edmonton company - The Canadian Press via OHS Canada
Vision-impaired workers will benefit after an Edmonton development company was fined $100,000 after a death at a condo complex under construction.
A judge has ordered Medican Developments Inc. of Medicine Hat, Alta., to fork over $95,000 of the total fine to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) to be used for job skills training and retraining.
The creative sentencing scheme had been suggested because the victim, Alex Eisenkrein, was blind in one eye.------------------------------------------- posted 5:48 AM :: reference link ::
