It's a common story for many workers: Though you're sick as a dog, you figure you're somehow not too sick to make it into work.

It's a phenomenon known as 'presenteeism,' and like its better-known cousin absenteeism, it results in lost productivity. A 2004 article in the Harvard Business Review suggested presenteeism costs the U.S. a staggering $150 billion a year.
