More OSHA Scrutiny For Riskiest Work Sites (washingtonpost.com) About 4.9 million Americans were injured on the job in 2001, and 8,786 died as a result of workplace injuries, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The deaths includes people killed in the terrorism attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
