Recordings Banned As Scalia Accepts Free Speech Award An ironic rule was in force as Justice Antonin Scalia accepted a free speech award from a Cleveland public affairs organization yesterday: At the justice's insistence, no video or audio recorders were allowed during his speech.
Some saw the decision to exclude those media from Scalia's talk as inconsistent with the City Club of Cleveland's self-description as "the oldest continuous free speech forum in the country."
