'Stumpage bingo' blamed for fatal log scramble A rash of accidents on northern Interior logging roads -- including one fatality -- is being blamed on a a new tactic by forest companies to chop even more money from timber costs to compete in the U.S. lumber market.
Logging roads in the Prince George region are jammed with loaded trucks, their drivers coming from all over B.C. and often fatigued by over-work in a mad race to get this winter's harvest to mills.
The traffic jam in the bush is the result of a tactic termed "stumpage bingo."
