Workday Minnesota: Governor drops proposal to eliminate OSHA ST. PAUL - Facing mounting public pressure, Governor Tim Pawlenty Thursday dropped his plan to eliminate the state OSHA program.
"That's the first good thing he's done for workers since he's taken office," said Minnesota AFL-CIO President Ray Waldron.
The labor movement organized opposition to the plan to eliminate the state-run Occupational Health and Safety Administration and switch to a federal program that would enforce lower workplace standards.
