Wednesday's ruling by a binational North American Free Trade Agreement panel rejecting 19 percent U.S. countervailing duties on Canadian lumber imports represents another important legal win for housing affordability and consumers, according to the National Association of Home Builders.
In yet another decision against lumber tariffs that harm housing affordability, a NAFTA panel last month ruled that the Commerce Department was wrong in imposing 8 percent anti-dumping duties on Canadian lumber shipments, and that the methods used in calculating the duties had to be changed.
