Lecture explores women's role in the birth of unions Campbell River Mirror
Missing until now were stories of women being paid half a man's wage for the same work, women whose legs were cut and shattered by strike-breaking provincial police directing a bulldozer through the workers' picket line, women who starved during the depression years trying to keep their children fed, women who were welcomed into industry during two World Wars and were urged to return to the kitchen immediately after.
