Deathbed confession gives new insight into Hoffa's murder BY KITTY CAPARELLA, KRT
The late Frank 'Big Irish' Sheeran once told his onetime agent and manager Harry Jay Katz that he fatally shot the legendary Jimmy Hoffa.
Sheeran was said to have committed the July 30, 1975, murder on orders of his longtime friend, upstate Pennsylvania crime boss Russell Bufalino, according to Katz.
Katz said Sheeran blamed the late Attorney General John Mitchell and the late ex-President Richard Nixon, who gave Hoffa a pardon with restrictions, with arranging the contract with Bufalino in the early 1970s. This is the third account to emerge so far about Sheeran's role in Hoffa's disappearance. In the mid-1990s, Sheeran blamed Hoffa's murder on Vietnam mercenaries.
