ICBA sues Kootenay local of Carpenters Union & its business agent over apprenticeship training program comments AM980 CKNW Vancouver
BC's independant contractors are suing the Kootenay local of the Carpenters Union and its business agent over comments made regarding the apprenticeship training program. In a lawsuit filed in BC Supreme Court, the
Independant Contractors and Businesses Association says it was libeled by Carpenter's Business Agent Paul Nedelec.
In news reports aired on CKNW radio, Nedelec questioned the viability of an apprenticeship training program the ICBA established at a high school in Trail.
The comments followed the firing of the head of the provincial government's Industry Training Center in Burnaby.
The ICBA's lawsuit says Nedelec's comments have caused it serious damage and were false and malicious.
It's asking for general, aggravated and punitive damages.
