Softwood deal only possible if provinces concur, minister says Canadian Press
QUEBEC - The provinces must work together if they want a negotiated settlement on the lengthy softwood lumber dispute between Canada and the United States, federal International Trade Minister Jim Peterson said Tuesday.
"It's Team Canada against the United States," said Peterson. "It's not one province against another. Everyone is going to contribute something to get a deal on the quotas." Peterson was in Quebec as part of cross-country tour to try and get the provinces to adopt a consensus position to allow Canada to present a counter-proposal to the U.S. "as soon as possible."------------------------------------------- posted 5:25 AM :: reference link ::
