Home Improvements BY PAT BURSON, Newsday
Long Island Carpenters Local 7 have volunteered on the house project since November. Twenty-five carpenters were there at 7 a.m. yesterday, swinging hammers and hanging 250 4-by-12-foot-long boards of Sheetrock well into the afternoon. Most materials were donated by local businesses.
'Mike Mianulli will face many challenges in the future,' said union representative Anthony Macagnone, a carpenter and Oyster Bay Town Board member. 'We're here to show that he won't have to face those challenges alone.'
Longo said the family was grateful for the community's support and the town's help with expediting construction permits.
'It reconfirms my faith in my fellow man,' he said of Local 7 members. 'For them to be out here between Good Friday and Easter Sunday is mind-boggling. ... It's really overwhelming.'
