Bunnygate: Union Egg Hunt Competes With Virtual Easter TheWMURChannel.com, CONCORD, N.H.
Virtual Or Traditional Easter? When word got to state employees, many of whom said they enjoyed the family event, a movement began to support a more traditional Easter egg hunt.
'We got phone calls, e-mails,' said Paul Stokes, president of the State Employees Association of New Hampshire. 'We knew we had to do something.'
Hoping to keep the tradition going, the union scrambled to put together its own egg hunt. On Saturday, children are invited to Terrill Park in Concord. Stokes said kids like computers, but they love real eggs and real chocolate.
The hunt will also feature a real Easter Bunny.
'No virtual Easter Bunny,' Stokes said. 'We called the Manchester EBU Local 777 -- that's the Easter Bunny union down in Manchester -- and we got the president of the Easter Bunny union to come up and do it personally.'
