Union hopes ads revive labor talks By BUSH BERNARD, Tennessean.com
The United Steelworkers of America has taken its contract rift with Bridgestone/Firestone to the airwaves, buying radio spots in several key cities to pressure the company out of a stalemate in efforts to reach a new labor contract.
The 60-second radio spot, airing in cities where the company has plants affected by the labor agreement, says the Nashville-based tiremaker ''made millions in profits last year'' and accuses the company of wanting to ''shortchange hard-working Americans.''
