Alberni Local Executive Endorses IWA-USWA Merger USWA news release
PORT ALBERNI, BRITISH COLUMBIA - The Executive Board of Industrial, Wood and Allied Workers of Canada, Local 1-85 has unanimously endorsed the proposal for merger between the IWA and the United Steelworkers of America (USWA).

“Our local is asking the membership to support the merger in the referendum ballot and we will be pushing for a strong, positive vote result,” said local president Monty Mearns. “This is a good deal for the IWA and it will put us on solid ground that we need to be on to fight the likes of Weyerhaeuser.”
