FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. -- Crews working on Syncrude Canada's $7.8-billion expansion project had an unpaid day off Friday after being sent home because of smoke spewing from a plant stack.
Contractors representing about 6,000 construction workers raised health concerns Thursday as maintenance continued on a carbon monoxide boiler releasing smoke that was being sent through a diverter stack.
