USWA, PACE Begin Massive Voter Registration Drive USWA/PACE News Release
The USWA and PACE today kicked off a joint national voter registration action that aims to involve the two unions’ combined total of nearly three million active, retired and family members in every industrial community across the U.S.
"Since forging a strategic alliance with PACE earlier this year, our two unions are intensifying efforts to strengthen the voice of working families in the Nov. 2 election with grassroots voter education and registration at the workplace level," USWA President Leo W. Gerard states. "This effort will go to where our members work, including outreach to their families and our retirees."
PACE President Boyd Young said the action represents the largest voter drive in the history of either union. "Voter registration is fundamental to responsible citizenship in our democracy," he said. "It’s our leverage at the ballot box to get heard in Washington, D.C. and state capitals across the country.
