Trade union membership in Scotland is growing after years of decline as experts predict mounting discontent with salaries and pensions from workers feeling increasingly threatened by employers.
Membership of three of the biggest unions, Unison, Amicus and the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), is increasing.
Three years ago overall membership was falling but in many cases that trend has been reversed.
Unions are beginning to flex their collective muscles again. Last week, the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) completed the third of three 48-hour walk-outs over poverty pay and working practices.
