OSHA sets maximum fine against contractor in bridge worker's death Newsday, NY
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined a demolition contractor $14,000 in connection with a fatal crane accident at the Sikorsky Bridge earlier this year.

Balfour Beatty, the primary contractor on the nearly $100 million demolition and reconstruction project, was fined the maximum amount, OSHA said Friday. It found that the cranes involved in the Feb. 18 accident that killed Charles Jordan of Satsuma, Ala., were not secured to the barges on which they were placed.
