Moving up the ladder — safely By Heather Gooch, Pest Control
Our industry is not immune. Newsday's Gary Dymski reports in a recent column that a homeowner made a crude ladder from old lumber so he could work on his sailboat: "He used it several times without incident. When an exterminator came to work on the house, the owner let him use the homemade ladder. Twice. The second time, the exterminator fell and was paralyzed. A lawsuit is likely."
Dymski's column quotes ALI Executive Director Ron Pietrzak as saying, "Everybody is pointing fingers, asking why the homeowner didn't just purchase an extension ladder."
What troubles me is, why did the pest management professional borrow the customer's ladder? Why didn't he have his own, one he was familiar with and directly responsible for?------------------------------------------- posted 7:09 AM :: reference link ::
