Unions seek payments for workers at toxic construction site New York Newsday
MILFORD, Conn. -- Union leaders say that workers sickened by exposure to chemicals at the Milford Power Co. construction site have been denied benefits because of unrealistic deadlines.
The issue has come up for those filing workers' compensation claims based on illnesses that have turned up years after work on the project in 1999.
A blasting superintendent died this spring after battling a rare blood cancer that he believed was caused by trichloroethylene and benzene exposure at the site.
