Builders Eye State Apprentice Program By Aaron Porter, Ellsworth American, ME
Having the right tools for a specific task is necessary for any builder. But for Maine boat builders, tools aren’t the problem. Finding workers who know how to use tools and perform specific tasks has been the challenge and frustration in recent years.
In fact, the industry has been crying out for trained employees to do everything from building hulls and finishing interiors to mechanical installations and rigging.
