Life goes on for man who lost foot - Thunder Bay Chronicle-Journal
Steelworkers at the neighbouring David Bell gold mine said they weren't surprised an inexperienced worker was asked to perform mining work.

"The attitude is, you do what it takes to get the job done," said Steelworkers representative Michel Begin.

Workers in non-union settings also have the right to refuse to perform unsafe work, but Begin said few follow through because they fear managers will penalize them or simply find someone else to do the job.
