6,000 attacks a year on lifesavers - Manchester Evening News, UK Official statistics show health workers face a rising tide of violence, with around 6,000 incidents of physical and verbal abuse in Greater Manchester in the last year. Attacks on paramedics have risen sharply, up 50 per cent in two years. Health bosses say at least one ambulance worker is assaulted every day in the area.
