A federal investigation into the conduct of top officials of the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters probed whether Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and former Detroit Police Chief Benny Napoleon improperly had work done at their private homes by union members.
In a court-filing last week, a lawyer for the head of the carpenters union asked a federal judge to bar evidence of alleged work done by the union on the mayor's home.
