It's unrealistic to think that a 10-union committee (with each union having its own agenda and self-interest) could establish a consensus on all aspects of an organizing campaign. These unions have little more than tenuous connections with each other (examples: actors and electricians; musicians and newspaper staffers). Who is going to make them all march to the same tune?

There is renewed hope that local unions affiliated with the Change to Win coalition will rejoin their respective AFL-CIO state federations and central labor councils, after leaders of the two rival groups affirmed that they had reached an "agreement in principle" on Oct. 17 to allow such re-affiliations via Solidarity Charters. The returning CTW locals would enjoy full voting and participation rights.
