Steel Worker's Death Raises Questions Of Safety - By Pamela Jones, cbs2chicago.com
EAST CHICAGO, Ind. - United Steelworkers, company officials and OSHA are doing an extensive investigation to determine what happened and if anything could have been done to prevent the accident. Similar investigations are conducted on all steel mill deaths.

At this plant, accidents killed four other people over the last five years. In June 2004, a railroad accident killed a worker. That same month, another man was crushed after falling in a steel shop. And in March 2001, two people died in a steel shop fire.

Spencer worked at the mill for some 31 years and was looking forward to a career in the ministry as well. His wife says it's ironic that he gave his first sermon just two days before the accident.
