Carpenters union protest sparks 'bannering' debate - Reno Gazette Journal, NV
A carpenters union says it is just exercising free speech in holding up a banner protesting Metcalf Builders in Carson City, but a builders group has cried foul and filed a complaint with a federal labor agency.
The complaint of illegal "bannering" against Carpenters Local 971 is one of several against many unions pending before the National Labor Relations Board, said Reno lawyer Mark Thierman, who represents the Associated Builders and Contractors that filed the complaint.
"The question becomes whether a banner is really a picket sign," Thierman said. Laws govern when unions can picket.------------------------------------------- posted 5:30 AM :: reference link ::
